I love working out and trying new classes that push me out of my comfort zone. I constantly try new classes to keep my workouts fun and challenging, so that I don’t fall into a slump. I tried a class with my friend Nicole at Aura Yoga called Aura Body, TRX Body Blast. I’ll be totally honest, I had just skipped reading the TRX part, I had no idea what it was and just thought it was the name of the class. I assumed that it was just going to be a class that would have, cardio, free weights and maybe some other moves. We were in for a big surprise when we got to class.
If you don’t know what TRX is it’s a suspension training, which is what Navy Seals (and other military, and pro sports athletes) do to train. Suspension Training is a workout that uses these straps that hang from above, these straps have handle grips and also foot holsters. You use these straps for the entire workout, it uses gravity and your bodyweight to perform different exercises. TRX helps build lean muscle, get stronger, it improves flexibility and mobility. You are constantly stabilizing your body so it’s great for your core as well as your entire body.
I won’t lie, the class is hard. It is way harder than I even imagined. It does say all levels, and you have to start somewhere so don’t be intimidated. It is so worth going to, especially if you want to see results. This is definitely one of the best classes I have ever taken. It’s challenging, you will use all your muscles in this class, even ones that you didn’t even know you had. It’s so amazing, I think that everyone needs to take this class who is serious about getting fit and staying in shape. It worked out every muscle in my body, from my legs, abs, butt, arms chest and back. It is a full body workout in less than an hour. I love the studio at Aura Yoga/Body it’s so clean and pretty. We got to the studio early to just check it out and there was a hot yoga class and you would never know because it didn’t feel hot or musty. The staff is really nice and friendly. The lighting is also relaxing, it’s also dark enough that I’m not worried if I’m not doing that great in class or that I’m embarrassing myself. So you can just focus on yourself and every different move you learn in class.
The class is small enough that Tolland, our instructor, could help everyone in the class that needed his help. Tolland is awesome, he’s motivating, fun and his music selection is great. I would highly recommend taking a class with him. He helped Nicole and I a lot in class and paid attention to everyone if their form wasn’t correct. Which is really important so you get the full effect of the exercise. I go to a lot of classes and sometimes they are so packed that the trainer can’t see you or he’s too busy helping other people in class, so you don’t even know that you are doing the exercise wrong. He makes all the exercises look so easy so when I saw him doing them I just tried to copy him (I learned they are not as easy as they look but at least we tried them). He didn’t let us give up and really you can go at your own pace. Tolland also gave us different options of exercises we could do that would work us out the same, so that all levels could do it. I love that the class went by so quickly. When class was so over it felt like we had just gotten there and Nicole and I were ready to do more.
The next day I was definitely sore all over, and I called Nicole to see how she was doing, she also felt sore but we love the class. We would definitely do this class 3 times a week. It’s one of the only classes I have taken that I feel like I got a total body work out. If you want to see results in your body and tone up, this is the class for you. It’s my new favorite class.
