Chinese New Year this year is Feb 5th and we celebrate it until Feb 19th. In our culture we have a lot of traditions and superstitions that we believe in to prepare for the new year. Chinese New Year is also known as Spring Festival. This year is the year of the pig which means 2019 will be filled with family gatherings and hopes for good fortune. Famous people born in year of the pig are Henry Ford, Ronald Reagan, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Hilary Clinton. One tradition that almost everyone knows is that we wear red on Chinese New Year. If you are like me and love all thing Halloween you need to add to your list Horror Made Here: A Festival Of Frights at the Warner Brothers lot.  You will see so many of your favorite Halloween characters like Freddie, Jason and Pennywise.  You will also be able to walk through interactive sets and mazes.   When you enter Horror Made Here you will walk through a frightening, abandoned old carnival which will even spook the bravest soul. As you enter the town square make sure you stop in at and shop at Little Shop Of Horrors. After you get your shopping fix you have to go to Fangtasia for guests over 21 and get yourself a cocktail served in a blood bag.   Guests are chased by characters in the square or you can even have a dance party with a clown.  My favorite maze of the night…

If you haven’t been to Fashion Island’s highly anticipated event, Style Week OC presented with SIMPLY, you have to mark your calendars for next year.  The event is fashion lovers dream from pop up shops and in-store shopping parties. There is also a series of panel discussions with industry experts. This year there were keynote speakers who talked about beauty and fashion.   Notable speakers included Ali Landry, Louise Rose, Lo Bosworth, and many more. The weekend kicked off with a VIP dinner at Fig and Olive in Newport Beach, Orange County, CA.  The dinner was beautiful and had a fashion show featuring the newest Fall trends from Neiman Marcus.  The trend was definitely a lot of animal print and sequins.  I know I love all things leopard!  The dinner was hosted by SIMPLY Founder Sarah Boyd it was a great way to  kick off SIMPLY’s STYLE WEEK OC.
