Getting ready for New Year’s Eve is so fun and glamorous. New Year’s is a time for new beginnings, a brighter future, and fresh starts. I think that is why people really get dressed up to ring in the New Year. I love how people really take their time to get ready on New Year’s Eve. Here are some of our favorite makeup looks and hair styles.
Bold Lip. This is a really classic look that would look great with any dress. The bold lip and bright eye will make you look festive and pretty. If you don’t want to do red you can do a dark berry. Start with your foundation and when you apply it blend it towards your ears to get that airbrushed look. Line your lower waterline with a neutral pencil, and the inner with a shiny white to really make your eyes pop. The upper lid you can brush a shimmer shadow, and line it with a thin black line with a couple of coats of mascara. Fill in your brows to really pull this look together.
Smokey Eye. This sultry look is always pretty. When doing a smokey eye make sure that you keep your lip a neutral color. It doesn’t have to be nude but even a soft coral like the one in the photo is very flattering. Smokey eyes can be done with other colors, you don’t have to make it a black/grey combo. It can be dark blue, purple, bronze, get creative. To achieve this look, start with your primer, then let the primer set. The apply your foundation also let it set. Find the shadow that you want to use, use two or three different shades of the same color to get dimension in your eyes. Before applying your shadow use a shadow primer so that your makeup won’t disappear by the end the night. I use a gel liner so that it stays the whole night. Don’t forget to apply lashes.
Natural Makeup. This is a really soft and pretty look. It is really simple and timeless look. Your brows are a main focus in this look. Start by applying your foundation and letting it set. Then find a natural shadow and sweep it over your lids. Then apply liner to the top of your lids. When you apply liner to the bottom don’t bring it to the inner of your eyes stop in the middle. Then in the inner corner of your eyes add a little shimmer shadow to make your eyes appear bigger. Add lashes and a nude or soft pink lipstick of your choice.
Golden. This look is really on trend. It’s adds some subtle glamour to your New Year’s look. After you apply your foundation you can add some bronzer. Sweep gold shadow on your upper lids and your inner corners and along the bottom of your lash line. Apply a thin layer of black liner on the top of your lid and some whispy lashes on the corner. Don’t forget to add highlighter on the bridge of your nose, above your lip on the cupid’s bow and in the center of your bottom lip to make them look full.
The Cat Eye. This is a great look but if you haven’t practiced your winged liner it might not be a great choice to start on NYE. You might be doing a lot of applying and reapplying. To make this look really pop add a soft shadow. A pretty blush and soft lip.
The Full Teased Ponytail. First wash and blow dry your hair. To add volume to your hair add mousse and then dry your hair by flipping your head upside down. Then section your hair, divide your hair evenly into two sections by creating a horizontal part from ear to ear. After you have done that make two ponies. Tie the top section into a ponytail and do the same with the lower section directly underneath. Then use a third tie to tie both together. Tease the two ponytails together using a comb or your fingers. Finish it by wrapping some hair around the pony tails to hide the ties. Secure with a bobby pin. For extra volume add hair extensions.
Hollywood Glamour Curls.
Find a good deep side part. Once you find your side part, clip the top half of the heavier side. Start with curling the section right above your ear. Use a 1″ barrel curling iron. Curl all your hair in all the same direction. Continue doing this until you do all your hair. Once the curls are in place, spray with a firm holding hairspray. Let your hair cool, then start combing through your curls and the curls will start to join together.
Jeweled Headband. This is the easiest hairstyle. All you do is part your hair in the middle tie it in either a bun, or a low ponytail. Find a cute jeweled headband and you’re done.
The Lob. If you have this year’s most coveted haircut you can style it in so many ways. Either by blowing it out straight for a really classic look or make it a bit more glam with some curls. Don’t forget the hairspray to make sure your curls stay in place while you are dancing and celebrating the night away.
The Teased Bun. Long hair and short hair can do this style. Start by blowing it out with some mousse. Then tease the front of your hair back take the rest of your hair in a low bun. You can even do this with your hair down or in a high or low pony.
