If you don’t take a carry on you should. I’ve been traveling since I was 8 months old all over the world and I’ve always made sure I have a carry on. With all the holiday travel coming up I’ll show you what I pack. I always have a few staples that are must haves no matter how long or short a flight is.
First you need to start with the perfect carry on. I will tell you I love weekender bags so much. Ectu makes the perfect ones. I have the Hudson Weekender in Black, it’s handcrafted from Italian calfskin leather. If you are worried it will be heavy it’s not if you are carrying it. It is lined with canvas so it makes it really easy to clean the inside. I also love the leather panel on the back of the bag if you want to put it on a roller bag. You’ll never struggle with keeping your bag still even when you are running to catch a flight. It comes in two other colors if black isn’t for you. I really want to get it in Taupe next. If you are looking for a style that is different they have a bag that I really want called the Palermo. I’ve never seen a weekender like it. The designs from Ectu are so chic, I was getting stopped in the airport nonstop asking about my bag. If you want to elevate your travel look this bag is a must.
I always pack a pashmina or scarf to use to cover myself up with or to cover my chair with. I also always carry socks, an outfit in case my luggage gets lost and my toothbrush. I make sure whatever my outfit is light so it can be like a clean t shirt to wear with the jeans I might have on for the flight just so that I have an option. I also always carry my phone or laptop chargers in my carry on. I also carry cough drops with me because the air on a plane always makes my throat feel dry and I don’t want to be the person coughing on the flight. I also always carry a brush and I have been using Acca Kappa Beachwood Paddle Brush. It’s really light weight so it’s great to travel with and keeps my hair from looking like a mess when I land. I use it with Rene Furterer Texturisant Végétal Spray because it keeps my hair from looking static-y and helps keep the volume in my hair after a flight. If you spray it in before you get on a flight it will keep your style the whole time.
I also carry hand sanitizer on a flight with me it is a must! It’s a great way to not catch a cold on a flight. I love Olika they have one that has wipes inside of the packaging so you can wipe down your area. I always make sure I wipe the tv, arm rests, seat belt and tray table. I ran out of the one with wipes so I just sprayed it directly and wiped it with a napkin.
Hand cream is also a must I alway carry a travel size Molton Brown hand cream right now I’m using Orange & Bergamont. It smells really fresh and clean and the scent is light so it won’t bother other passengers when you apply it. Before applying my hand cream I use Lauren B.’s Reparative Cuticle Oil. It keeps your mani looking fresh for when you arrive.
I have also been traveling with Eve Lom’s Cleansing Oil Capsules. They are the perfect travel cleanser and so easy to use. You also won’t have to worry about any spills in your bag. I also always have to have two types of creams with me a day cream and a night cream. I have been using Kate Somerville’s KATECEUTICALS Multi-Active Revive. It’s a great cream to travel with because it will be great in any climate. It has peptides in it so it will keep your skin looking hydrated and it has ingredients that help your skin looking fatigued and that is a must when traveling. Fake it till you beat jet lag. For my night cream I am using January Labs Retexturizing Night Cream, after a flight this is the perfect cream to apply because it’s so hydrating and will naturally exfoliate your skin so when you wake up your skin will look bright and fresh. Don’t forget your lips. I do a lip mask on the flight and I love Patchology FLASHPATCH Hydrating Lip Gels. I just finished them on the flight so I have to restock! They make your lips fuller and softer. I follow that with Algenist GENIUS Liquid Collagen Lip this is my favorite lip treatment because it doesn’t just soften lips it makes all the fine lines disappear over time. You can’t forget a facial spray and I can’t live without Emma Hardie’s Plump & Glow it’s hydrating, has shine control in it and leaves your skin radiant. It also contains Aloe Vera so if you have sensitive skin it helps your skin stay calm. I also always have Hollywood Fashion Secrets Eye Makeup Corrector and Remover because I wear black eye liner and don’t want to walk off the plane like a panda. If you get shiny when you fly then you need to carry Boscia’s Peppermint Blotting Linens. They will keep you looking fresh. It’s a flight must.
As you guys know I take skincare very seriously. I pack skincare for myself and whoever is traveling with me and have them do my skincare routine with me. Flights whether they are long or short can be harsh on your skin. The air on the plane is very dry and your skin gets very fatigued when traveling. I have a whole inflight skincare routine that I do on longer flights. I start with my PCA Skin Makeup Removing Wipes I love all things PCA they have some of my favorite skincare products and I just discovered these wipes. In one sweep all your makeup comes off and they don’t leave your skin feeling stripped or dry. It’s perfect for a plane. I then apply a little bit of Youth To The People Superberry Hydrate + Glow Oil. I then use my rose quartz roller or my gua sha and gently roll it over my face. After I do that for several minutes I add few drops of Glowtopia on my skin to lock in all the moisture so that if I reapply makeup it will look flawless. I also use Borghese Restorative Eye Sheet Mask on longer flights so that if I drink wine or eat snacks on the plane my bags don’t show.
Some of my all time favorite sheet masks come from STARSKIN they are amazing and I am constantly telling people to get them. I love Cream De La Crème for flights because it’s hydrating. I try to sit at a window seat when I’m doing sheet masks because they do look a little crazy on when you are doing them inflight. Thats also when your pashmina comes in handy to cover your head.
When I apply makeup on a fight I always start with a foundation primer. I have been using Laura Mercier Foundation Primer because it has no shine or color to it and it won’t change the color of your foundation. It’s really easy to use and you’ll look flawless when you walk off the flight. I then apply Shiseido’s Synchro Skin Self Refreshing Concealer in 302 but I think now that it’s winter I need to get one shade lighter. I’ll be honest I never tried a concealer before and now I can’t live without one. I love this one because not only is it long wear it helps to resist heat, humidity, and facial movement so it will never crease. It feels light weight and will look just as good in 24hours as when you applied it. I apply it with the Shiseido Daiya Fude Face Duo Brush. This brush is amazing one end of the brush mimics your fingertip so you can blend and pat without touching your face. Perfect for flights.
I then apply my new foundation from Decorté Soft Crème Foundation in Natural. If you want to look like you are airbrushed or you love the way your skin looks like with a filter this is the foundation you need to try. It’s extremely luxurious and a little goes a long way. I apply it with my Artis Elite Oval 6 Brush. I love how this brush is so soft and never leaves streaks or lines so that when you apply your makeup it looks like a professional did it. I’m not great at applying makeup but no one would ever know when you have the right foundation and brush.
I add a little blush and use Merle Norman Cheek Crayon in Pink Lotus. It’s a soft pink so it will leave you looking natural but put together. If you need to fill in your brows I use The BrowGal in Medium Brown it’s a really easy pencil to use and makes your brows look polished. I do apply a little shadow and I love Cargo’s Swimmable’s in Botany Bay it’s a really pretty neutral and is so flattering on all skin tones. It will make your eyes look more awake. I follow that with Beauty Pie’s One Powder Wonder it’s perfecting powder that will pull it all together.
You can’t forget your lips. I line my lips with Charlotte Tilbury’s Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk. It’s one of my all time favorite lip liners and sometimes I just fill my lips in with it. It’s great for any skin tone and goes on so smoothly. If you want to add more color to your lips I love Cle Cosmetics Melting Powder. It’s a powder lipstick and I have been using it in Mocha Creme which is really pretty nude it’s perfect for fall and winter. It feels cool when you apply it but goes on dry. Be carful when you apply it since it is powder. I would wait after turbulence. It will last and it’s so weightless you’ll forget you have lipstick on.
Last but not least I always carry an extra pair of lashes with me and I can’t live without my Lilly Lashes.
I can’t wait for my next trip to share more travel tips with you!
