24 Hours in Palm Desert

One of my favorite getaways is Palm Springs/Palm Desert and I am declaring myself a Palm Springs Expert. I have stayed at almost every hotel in the Palm Springs area. I try all the restaurants, bars and know all the best places to see and shop at. Growing up in California Palm Springs has always been a place we can go to because it’s a short drive. It’s also a place you can go to if you want to go for a week, weekend, or just for a night. I spent 24 hours here and I’ll tell you what I did.

Palm Springs has so many cute hotels and they range from big resorts, family hotels, to cute boutique hotels. I like staying at all of them one of the hotels I have stayed at several times is Hotel Paseo. It’s a cute hotel that is located in the heart of everything in Palm Desert. Hotel Paseo is located in the heart of the “Rodeo Drive” of Palm Desert. It’s just steps away from luxury shopping, dining and entertainment. It’s a boutique hotel that feels cozy and modern. You can relax by the pool and have a cocktail, or play games in their backyard. They have a small cafe inside that you can pick up some grab and go snacks and coffee. The beds are my favorite, they are so comfy that you’ll have the best night sleep. We had a room that faced the pool and you can see the mountains, our room had a balcony, where you can sit outside and enjoy the view.

When you are in Palm Spring/Palm Desert area you can explore what the desert has to offer which is a lot from hiking, biking, shopping or you can spend your days by the pool with a cocktail in hand. My friend and I went and checked out Desert X which is an art exhibit that sprawls along the desert. If you haven’t seen it, it’s worth the drive to check out. We also walked around Paseo to shop. They have a gorgeous shopping center across from the hotel that has all the shops you would want and some great restaurants too. You can walk up and down El Paseo and stroll in and out of luxury boutiques and galleries. It’s a great way to spend the day.

We had dinner at Kitchen 86 it’s fun place that is casual and has a great menu. The owner is originally from New York and has owned some very well known establishments all over the US. He created the menu himself. Some of the highlights are the Roasted Beet Salad, the Boom Boom Shrimp is a must, Chicali Ceviche and I loved my main course which was the Salmon Buon Gusto. I want to go back to try their curry and pizza’s. Kitchen 86 also has amazing cocktails. It’s located on El Paseo so if you are staying at Hotel Paseo you can walk there and enjoy several of their cocktails.

Before leaving the desert we went to eat at Wilma & Frieda’s. Which is a great breakfast place for locals and tourists. I have been there before and love going back again and again. Right now they have an expansive patio with a beautiful white canopy that looks like lace. They have a great breakfast/brunch menu that we tried. There is something for everyone from blackberry custard french toast, churro waffles, gluten free pancakes, a variety of eggs Benedict’s, their famous scrambles and so much more. Their daily homemade baked goods are not to be missed either. If you eat them there or take them to go, you need to make sure you try one of their cookies or their shortbread lemon bar. They also have amazing coffee so if you are a coffee lover make sure you get one at their coffee bar.

I can’t wait to go back to Palm Desert, explore more, try new hotels and resorts and all the new restaurants. I’ll keep sharing all my favorite places because it’s really a great place to stay and it’s such an easy trip to do.
