Hotel Cerro

Since quarantine I have really taken advantage of traveling around California. Whether it be a staycation or a road trip. I needed a little getaway so I went up the coast to Hotel Cerro located in the heart of San Luis Obispo. If you haven’t been to SLO it’s a cute town with so many places to eat, shop and enjoy. Hotel Cerro is in the heart of it and it’s a short drive from LA and Orange County. It’s the perfect getaway because it’s not too far but the scenery is different that you feel like you are on a vacation.

One thing that I love about Hotel Cerro is that the hotel practices sustainability. Every room has two water bottles for guests that you keep and refill at one of their many stations throughout the hotel. I have stayed in a lot of hotels and this is the first time that I have seen a hotel do that and I really appreciate them being leaders in making an effort to making a difference in out planet.

I stayed in a beautiful garden suite that opens up to and edible garden. The colors in the room immediately make you feel relaxed and comfortable. The garden suite has a big patio and beautiful lighting for the evening. I love that there was a fire pit on the patio that was a perfect edition for a cozy fall evening. The room was spacious, has a gorgeous freestanding tub that is perfect to wind down from a busy day. I also love the shower in the room with the cascading water which makes every shower you take during your stay feel like you are in a luxury spa. I also love the gourmet pour over in our room which I love so much more than a coffee machine. The beds are amazing I hadn’t had a good night sleep like that in a long time because the linens and bed were so comfortable.

One thing I never get tired of are rooftop pools and Hotel Cerro has a lovely one. The pool is heated so that even if you want to take a dip on a chilly fall day you can. It has beautiful views of the city. Lounge beds and cabanas line the pool area. There is a bar on the rooftop so if you want a cocktail you can have one by the pool and watch the sunset. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon on vacation.

There is a new spa at Hotel Cerro, Spa Cerro. It’s been open just for a few months. I was excited to experience it during my stay. There are different quite areas. One located in the spa and one that is outside, where you can read, drink tea or meditate. They have a wide variety of spa services to quick mini ones if you are short on time that are about 30 minutes to longer ones like the one that I did. Every time I go to a spa I like to try something that is unique and special to that spa and Spa Cerro has these rituals you can take. I did the Organic French Clay and Seaweed Wrap which started off with a relaxing aromatherapy foot bath that had peppermint and sea salt, essences of blue yarrow, lemon with a coffee and mint scrub. It was followed by a body scrub then she applied French green clay, seaweed, citrus, kombucha, and spirulina algaethen a seaweed wrap that helps detoxify and improves your lymphatic system. You are cocooned in the the clay which is really relaxing, she comes and helps you out of it and it’s time for your chromotherapy shower that has different lights you can go through that will help recenter your chakras. Once you are all washed off you lay back down and you are welcomed with a hot stone Himalayan salt stone reflexology massage. It feels amazing and it was the first time I had ever had Himalayan hot stones. It’s soothing and releases all tension. Your service is ended with a hydration treatment that consists of shea butter, jojoba, grape stem cells and tea extracts. It will leave your skin so buttery soft. This is a must!

Hotel Cerro has an amazing restaurant that I had dinner at called Brasserie SLO. It is a modern coastal menu with French influence. They serve lunch and dinner right now. I only tried their dinner that was really delicious. The space is beautiful and even in the cooler evenings, it’s lovely to sit on their patio. It has that Paris feeling and the street is lovely at night. We started with local oysters and a pear salad. I loved the steak frites and the black truffle honey salmon. They have craft cocktails and a great wine list. I can’t wait to go back to try more from this menu.

Hotel Cerro is located at 1125 Garden St, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401.
